Latrobe Federal Band Rehearsals

The Latrobe Federal Band, established in 1875, holds the title of Australia's oldest continuous brass brand. Currently, the band is rehearsing at the Moriarty Hall whilst the L J Coventry Bandrooms, (situated at the Latrobe Recreation Ground on Gilbert Street in Latrobe) is undergoing an exciting redevelopment. Our Musical Directors are Geoff Dell, who oversees and guides the senior band, and Dominique Baker, who teaches and mentors our junior and beginner players with the support of our experienced senior members.

Rehearsal Schedule:

Mondays (During School Terms)

  • Beginners: 6:15pm-7:00pm
  • Juniors: 7:00pm-8:00pm

Mondays

  • Seniors: 7:30pm-9:00pm

Post-rehearsal, members are invited to stay and socialise, offering an opportunity to bond with other band members. We welcome everyone interested! We provide tuition, instruments, and uniforms at a very low cost.

Reel Keen Fishing Club, Port Sorell and Districts

A fishing club, founded to provide those with a love of recreational fishing the opportunity to socialise with like-minded anglers, recently formed at Port Sorell.  “Reel Keen Fishing Club … Port Sorell and Districts” is for everyone of any age and will offer fishing related activities (competitive and non-competitive) for members and in conjunction with other fishing clubs in Tasmania.

Membership is $20 per active fishers or $10 for those that just want to come for the social part of the club.  They meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm at the Port Sorell Men's Shed, 14 Burgess Way, Shearwater.
