PANATANA FOOTBRIDGE CLOSES FOR MAINTENANCE WORKS
Latrobe Council has awarded the contract for essential maintenance works on the Panatana Footbridge, Port Sorell to SICC Services, with construction scheduled to begin next month.
The project involves preparation and recoating of the bridge’s existing steel components in situ, along with replacement of the current safety barrier wire mesh. A Council spokesperson stated that the works are necessary to maintain the structural integrity and long-term safety of the pedestrian bridge.
While construction will commence on 2 February, the footbridge will be closed to the public from 9 February to ensure public safety while works are underway. The footbridge is scheduled to reopen on 21 March.
Council has confirmed there will be no temporary alternative route available during the closure period and is urging community members to plan ahead.
Council has apologised for the inconvenience and thanked residents for their patience and cooperation.
