Garbage Collection

FROM 2ND MARCH 2020 YOUR GARBAGE AND RECYCLING COLLECTION DAYS COULD CHANGE

Council recently awarded a contract to empty kerbside garbage wheelie bins to Veolia.  At the moment Veolia only collect our kerbside recycling wheelie bins.  After many years with no change to the garbage and recycling collection days our continued growth means an extra collection day is being added.

The main changes are:

  • A new ‘Hawley / Shearwater’ area will have garbage and recycling collected on alternative Thursdays.  Garbage will start on the 5 March and recycling on the 12 March for this new area.
  • The current minor difference between garbage and recycling collection areas just north of the Bass Highway roundabout near the hospital will align.
  • The new contractor will change daily collection routes to be more efficient.  The approximate time of day your garbage bin was previously collected will change.  Have you bins out 6am on collection day or the evening before.
  • If you bin is not collected please report it so your due collection day can be verified and the trucks camera footage checked to ensure you had the bin out on the right day and on time.
  • Council and Veolia are committed to help resolve teething issues during March.  Please be patient.
