The Latrobe and Districts Youth Centre (LDYC) was opened by the Premier, The Hon. E E Reece, MHA, on 12 October 1974.
The finances for the building of the LDYC came from a variety of sources. Significantly, a number of community groups were involved, Rotary, Apex, Lions, local High School, Moriarty CWA, Catholic Schools Mothers Club, Goliath Cement, Latrobe Council and the Commonwealth Government.
The LDYC comprises 1 full size basketball court, complete with lines for badminton. volleyball, basketball and netball.
There are two squash courts, a social clubroom, canteen, men and women's toilets and showers (two sets of each), multipurpose room, meeting room and extra kitchen area. BBQ area and Skatepark adjacent.
