HAWLEY FORESHORE SHARED PATHWAY PROJECT - SITE B WORKS COMMENCE
Construction works on Site B of the Hawley Foreshore Shared Pathway Project are scheduled to commence on Monday, 8 September 2025, and continue for approximately four weeks, subject to weather conditions.
The works include the construction of an elevated walkway and concrete path.
During this stage of the project, the existing path within the light blue construction zone (see attached map) will be fully closed to the public due to the construction and movement of heavy machinery.. Pedestrian access will be detoured via Hawley Esplanade to the top carpark, before continuing down the duckboard walking track to the surf club and beach access.
The public toilet facilities on Hawley Esplanade, nearest the Port Sorell Surf Life Saving Club will be closed for this duration however the public facilities at the Surf Club and near Taroona Street will remain available.
Motorists are advised that there will be very limited parking available in the carpark adjacent to the Port Sorell Surf Life Saving Club. Where possible, visitors are encouraged to use the top carpark to avoid congestion.
The community’s patience and cooperation are appreciated as Council continues to progress this important infrastructure project, which will improve connectivity and accessibility along the Hawley foreshore.
