From creative competitions and family-friendly activities to challenges, games and hands-on experiences, chocolate features in every corner of the festival program, providing plenty of opportunities for visitors to discover something new.
A favourite with many festival goers is Lob-a-Choc, where participants toss coins towards an array of tempting chocolates. If a coin lands on a chocolate, the thrower claims the prize beneath it, creating a simple but surprisingly competitive challenge that attracts participants of all ages.
Keep an eye out for the specially commissioned chocolate marble run created by Contraption Cart. This quirky marble run sends a chocolate ball on a winding journey through twists, turns and loop-the-loops before delivering a sweet reward. Combining creativity, engineering and chocolate, this interactive attraction is sure to delight curious minds of all ages.
Visitors can also put their senses to the test in the Match the Chocolate Memory Challenge, identifying and matching a variety of chocolate flavours and varieties.
At the Australian Axeman's Hall of Fame, Chocolate Chess offers a sweet twist on the classic game, inviting players to combine strategy and concentration with the possibility of chocolate rewards.
For those looking for some action, the Splatapult Showdown delivers plenty of fun as participants test their aim in a chocolate-themed challenge that is sure to entertain competitors and spectators alike.
Latrobe Council Mayor Peter Freshney said one of the strengths of Chocolate Winterfest, Latrobe was the variety of experiences available across the town.
"People often come for a particular activity or attraction, but they soon discover there is so much more to experience. The program has been designed so that chocolate is at the heart of every activity, whether you're tasting it, creating with it, competing for it or simply enjoying the fun and atmosphere it inspires."
Visitors are encouraged to allow plenty of time to experience everything the festival has to offer. Convenient parking is available throughout Latrobe, and free shuttle buses will operate throughout the day, making it easy to travel between venues and discover more of the festival.
Chocolate Winterfest Latrobe will be held on Sunday, 9 August from 10.30am to 3.00pm.
