WATER QUALITY RESULTS GIVE ALL CLEAR TO REOPEN FREERS BEACH, SHEARWATER
Latrobe Council is pleased to announce the reopening of the temporarily closed section of Freers Beach, Shearwater, following clear and satisfactory water quality test results.
After the precautionary closure due to elevated E. coli levels, additional sampling was promptly conducted. The latest results indicate that the water quality has returned to safe recreational limits, allowing for the reopening of the beach.
Mayor Peter Freshney expressed gratitude towards the community for their cooperation during this temporary closure, stating, "We appreciate the community's understanding and compliance with the precautionary measure taken to ensure public safety. The swift response and adherence to posted signage have been crucial in resolving the situation promptly."
The health and safety of the community remain the top priority, and the Council is committed to maintaining the highest standards in environmental health.
As Freers Beach reopens, residents and visitors are encouraged to enjoy the beach responsibly, adhering to any posted guidelines or safety measures.
The Council will continue its regular water quality testing to ensure the ongoing safety of high-use areas within the Latrobe Council area over the peak summer season.
