Mayor's Message

31st July 2020
A reminder to residents that this Friday, July 31, is the last day to take advantage of Council’s discounted dog registration fees.

Acting Mayor Graeme Brown's Message

A reminder to residents that this Friday, July 31, is the last day to take advantage of Council’s discounted dog registration fees.  The full price is applied after July 31 so if you haven’t already done so, please call in to the office or phone through your payment this week.  Dogs and cats are great companion animals, but owning one means you have particular responsibilities, both to your pet and also to the general public. Council has a host of information on its website (https://www.latrobe.tas.gov.au/services/animalcontrol) regarding dog ownership and cat management so why not jump on line and refresh yourself on the “do’s”, “don’ts” and any other relevant information.

Council’s next ordinary meeting on August 10, 2020 will be held at the Banksia Centre, Port Sorell at 5:00 pm.  Latrobe Council meetings have resumed face-to-face in accordance with the staged approach of lifting of restrictions associated with COVID-19 as outlined in the State Government’s Roadmap to Recovery. It is strongly recommended that members of the public wishing to attend a Council meeting RSVP prior to each meeting by calling Council on 6426 4444, due to the limited space available and to assist in following the appropriate social distancing rules.

Our Council has released its draft Strategic Plan 2020-2030 (available online at https://www.latrobe.tas.gov.au/council/publications/strategicplan), for public comment.  The draft plan sets out Council’s future direction and outlines issues, opportunities and priorities for the next ten years. Comments, addressed to the General Manager, should be received in writing by Latrobe Council to PO Box 63, Latrobe, 7307 or electronically to council@latrobe.tas.gov.au by 4:30 pm on Monday, August 17 2020.
