This Friday, 3 July, Council will say farewell to one of its longest serving employees on the outside workforce, Mr Peter Dawson (a.k.a. Smokey).
Peter started with Council just shy of 25 years ago, on 23 July 1995. Back then, it was a much smaller organisation but Peter has always been involved in the building and maintenance projects of Council, contributing greatly to the ongoing growth and development of the Latrobe Municipality.
In fact, one of his first projects was the renovation of Shearwater Village where he prominently featured in an article in The Advocate newspaper (pictured). A very young Peter then!
Peter has decided that now is an opportune time to leave council’s employment and establish his own domestic, commercial and rural maintenance business (DCR Maintenance).
After being a community servant for so many years, being his own boss will enable Peter to call his own shots in relation to his work-life balance, well as much as Jennie lets him 😂
The ‘can do’ attitude of Peter and the knowledge he holds will be greatly missed by all at Latrobe Council but we wish him and Jennie every happiness and the very best for the future.
