It is your responsibility as the property owner to ensure that all applicable permits are in place prior to commencement of any building work.
All building applications are lodged with Council's Permit Authority Officer. The Permit Authority Officer is responsible for the issue of Building and Plumbing Permits and Completion Certificates.
When lodging a Building or Plumbing Application, you should contact Cradle Mountain Water to determine if a Certificate of Certifiable Work is required, e.g. installation of water meter etc.
If a building or plumbing application requires a Certificate for Certifiable Work, then Cradle Mountain Water has to issue a Water and Sewerage Compliance Certificate before Council can issue a Certificate of Completion.
To contact Cradle Mountain Water telephone 136 992 or visit their website, http://www.cmwater.com.au/
Assistance for lodging of building and plumbing applications is available at the Council office between the hours of 8.00am and 4.30pm. Alternatively please contact Council on 64214650 or you may choose to email your enquiry to council@latrobe.tas.gov.au
Latrobe Council no longer provides a building surveying service for new projects. A service is however still being provided by Council in respect of previously approved building projects. A list of local building surveyors may be obtained from Council's customer service desk.
A building surveyor issues Certificates of Likely Compliance for applications to ensure the intended project complies with all building laws, codes and regulations.
The building surveyor is responsible for the issue of Occupancy Certificates for dwellings that are considered suitable for habitation, and Certificates of Final Inspection for completed building work that complies with all conditions associated with the Building Permit.
