MAYOR'S MESSAGE - 22 May 2019

It is pleasing to see that the Bosworth Park master plan has been released and is currently open for public comment until May 31st.  The park located on the corner of Cotton and Stanley Street, Latrobe is currently undergoing some landscape works with the construction of a toilet block scheduled to commence shortly.  The master plan intends to expand on the existing playground with the creation of a multi-purpose bike track for young children, construction of a split dog park, bbq facilities, shelters and seating along with a proposal to relocate the skate park.  The plan is available for viewing at the Council office or on Council’s website and comments are requested to be forwarded to Clinton O’Keefe, Building and Facilities Officer via council@latrobe.tas.gov.au

National Volunteer Week 2019 is currently being recognised (May 20th-26th) and I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank and indeed celebrate all of our community’s volunteers who give generously of their time.  Volunteers play such an integral role in our municipality and it is important that we recognise and appreciate those that contribute to the betterment of others and the community.

The Shearwater Mulled Wine in May Festival on this Saturday May 25th from 5.30pm to 9.30pm promises to once again be a great evening with delicious food, mulled wine (of course), face painting for the kids and entertainment by ‘Halfway to Forth’ and Neil Gibson.  Please note that traffic detours will be in effect from 4.00pm to 11.00pm around the Shearwater Village.  I look forward to welcoming winter and seeing you there!
