Visitors should take the time to fully explore the beauty and diversity of the Latrobe Municipality, which includes the townships of Latrobe, Port Sorell, Shearwater, Hawley, Wesley Vale, Sassafras, Moriarty and Tarleton.

The serene and picturesque seaside resort of Port Sorell appeals to those who wish to relax and just walk along the beaches or perhaps take time to visit the local penguins. Across the Rubicon Estuary is Narawntapu National Park, home to many types of Tasmanian wildlife in its native habitat.

There are other travellers who may wish to be immersed in the richness of the agricultural community; the sounds, smells and visual delights of the local farm life - freshly cut hay, well cared for livestock, deep red soils, brilliant poppy fields and hectares of superb fruits and vegetables.

Spend some time in the historic village of Latrobe. Latrobe is renowned for fine dining experiences, numerous quality antique shops, quaint cafes, majestic old buildings, the Courthouse Museum, the unique Axeman's Hall of Fame, fabulous Bells Parade, tempting Anvers Chocolates, the Teddy Sheean Memorial, superb walking tracks and the pristine Warrawee Reserve hiding the elusive platypus.

Latrobe is a must see municipality which is probably Tasmania's best kept secret - only 10 minutes from the Devonport Airport and Spirit of Tasmania terminal.
